Salton Sea

CD019-13

Salton City Yacht Club – Salton City, CA; 1991

Found a rare color Diana shot from my long ago visit to the Salton Sea. Added three more vintage black & whites to the Salton Sea portfolio which compares the Diana from 1991 to the Hipstamatic of 2012.

Ballona Creek

Ballona Creek runs through Culver City to the Pacific Ocean and is one of those Army Corps of Engineer’s flood control projects (think of a mini Los Angeles River but with a little bit more water, so you can’t quite drive a car down it). This was one of the first things I photographed when moving to Culver City in 1997. In 2012, I re-photographed the same views with an iPhone and the Hipstamatic app to compare the classic Diana 151 plastic-lensed camera, with it’s analog, silver-based film to it’s silicon counterpart.

Well, I think there is no comparison…silicon is close, but it ain’t no Diana.
